The name of the beer was inspired by Delphi, the navel of Gaia according to the ancient Greeks, which is one of the most significant and formidable monuments of Greek heritage and constitutes a world class attraction.
“Marea” is a common nautical term for the tide, the natural phenomenon of the periodical rise and fall of sea levels. The “marea” at the Euripus Strait in Chalkida, situated only minutes away from our brewery, is a unique example of this phenomenon in Greece.
In our limited edition series we do not care about commerciality, we feed our thirst to create and experiment. In 2017 we brewed the first Greek Triple Beers, fermented and matured in brand new oak casks. The fact that those casks where not used constitutes this project extremely rare in the beer world globally.
